The school district sent out 1,406 pink slips last Thursday to members of its blue-collar union from bus drivers to school custodians.
The layoffs are in addition to the 848 pink slips that were sent out back in September as part of a continuing effort to cut costs.
The union recently rejected a contract extension that contained $16-million in concessions.
