3 in custody for Chestnut Hill jewelry robbery

CHESTNUT HILL - August 8, 2012

It was around 1:00 p.m. when police were called to Delphine's Gallery in the 8400 block of Germantown Avenue.

There, the owners told them that they just spotted the suspects who robbed the store last week.

Police stopped the men at the intersection of Winston and Mermaid lanes where they were taken into custody.

The robbery happened last Thursday afternoon.

Police say an armed man came into the shop wearing a long, dark navy blue dress, a dark braided hair wig and a white silk mask.

The suspect allegedly told a female employee to get down on the floor, while he took $50,000 worth of jewels from their cases.

The suspect later fled the scene in a light green Ford Explorer which was being driven by another male.

No one was injured during the robbery.
