On the date of my visit, Couric checked out "Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara's new clothing line for Kmart.
On other days she explores everything from women's heart problems to college hazing.
Katie's had huge national success for decades, but she still remembers her small-town roots growing up in Arlington, Virginia.
"I grew up in a very modest home with a hard-working dad and stay at home mom," Couric told me. "I think it shows if you have drive, focus and make sacrifices, you can achieve things you think you'd only dream about."
Katie's audiences get to ask her questions after the show so they really feel like they get to know her one-on-one.
