Police in central Pennsylvania say a man fatally shot himself in front of police who were responding to a reported domestic dispute.

The Lebanon Daily News reports it happened around 9 p.m. Saturday in Campbelltown. South Londonderry Township police responded to an address after learning that a man involved in a dispute had just driven off and threatened to harm himself.

Police say the man was stopped after he was spotted on a road a short distance away. As officers approached, authorities say he pulled out a handgun and shot himself.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
