Anthony Coleman recently pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter in the death of Kareem Washington, who was shot in the neck. Authorities say the slaying occurred one day after three members of the gang Coleman belonged to were wounded in a street shooting.
Prosecutors will recommend that Coleman receive a 20-year state prison term when he's sentenced April 19. He will have to serve 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
The shootings came at a time when gang violence was soaring in New Jersey's capital city, spurring numerous shootings and other violent acts.
