Toronto FC gets GK Konopka from Union

TORONTO - September 13, 2013

"Chris is a 'keeper that we've had our eye on for some time and we're happy to get this deal done," Toronto FC coach Ryan Nelsen said in a statement. "He will be a welcomed addition to an already solid stable of 'keepers we have here at Toronto FC."

The 28-year-old Konopka started one league match with the Union this season. He was drafted in 2007 by the Kansas City Wizards. Konopka later played for Bohemians FC of the League of Ireland and had stints with Sporting Fingal and Waterford United.

He returned to Major League Soccer in 2011 and played for the New York Red Bulls and Columbus Crew that season. Konopka signed with Philadelphia in March 2012.
