We're going to tell you what days of the week items are marked down - so you can get the absolute lowest prices!

This advice comes compliments of Consumer Reports' ShopSmart magazine. The editor-in-chief tells Action News that retailers usually mark down items on the same day every week.

Marshalls and TJ Maxx usually further slash prices on Wednesdays. At Target - women's clothes are generally marked down on Tuesdays, men's on Wednesdays, and kids' on Mondays. Kohl's shoppers who are age 60-plus get an extra 15% off in stores every Wednesday.

The hottest selling items from H&M's latest campaigns usually hit floors on Thursdays.

Plus, you're leaving money on the table if you don't sign up for a store's credit card. Kohl's gives cardholders 15% off their first purchase plus exclusive coupons and discounts all year long. Target Red Card users get 5% off everything and free shipping for online orders.

TJ Maxx credit card holders get $10 back for every $200 they spend at Marshall's, TJ Maxx or HomeGoods . Plus, there's no annual fee for the card.
