Man arrested after heroin is found acquitted

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - February 4, 2014

A New Castle County Superior Court jury found 33-year-old Daniel Diaz of Bear not guilty of drug dealing, aggravated drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia last month.

After a monthlong investigation, police stopped Diaz on April 8 in New Castle. Officers said the heroin was worth $50,000 to $100,000.

Diaz's attorney Michael Modica says that police did not find fingerprints or DNA belonging to Diaz inside the compartment or on any of the packets.

Modica also said the car was not registered to Diaz, and investigators were not able to locate the owner.
