Fire officials say the blaze was first reported at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the unit block of Biscayne Boulevard.
Aerial images from Chopper 6 HD showed a two-story, single-family home with smoke pouring from an attic vent and a several firefighting units on the scene.
Initial reports described one person trapped on a roof, but that person was able to get down before firefighters arrived.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
An investigation is underway into what sparked the blaze.
