Nonprofit hosts conference to help families of children with autism

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A first of its kind event is being held in Philadelphia and its all about helping families affected by autism.

Terri Matthews and Lee Woodall are parents raising a child with autism.

They say they know all too well how difficult it is to find resources and the right care.

So they founded Jaden's Voice, named in honor of their son Jaden.

Their foundation has partnered with the NFL Players Association to host an autism conference called Is It Only me.

"There's not enough money to fix autism because there is no cure, but we can encourage one another and collaborate and talk," said Terri.

"Just to know you're not alone you have a voice and can be heard and there are other men going through the same thing and to have an outlet," said Lee.

Terri had a flourishing career in business and Lee is a Super Bowl Champion and retired NFL player, but now they're using their resources to help Jaden - and other families.

The autism conference is tomorrow morning 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel on City Avenue in Philadelphia.
