BETHLEHEM, Pa. (WPVI) -- A Bethlehem firefighter is coming to the rescue of a little girl in need of a liver transplant.
Three-year-old Kennedy Stevenson has a rare genetic disorder that prevents her from producing protein.
Her mother posted a plea on Facebook looking for an organ donor who might help her daughter.
Mom's high school classmate Michael Thompson, who is a firefighter, volunteered to get tested.
It turns out... he was a match!
"If somebody calls 911, we're there to help if they need us - it's part of our job. Me doing this is something I thought would be nice to do and as of right now everything is working out," Thompson said.
He is donating a part of his liver.
The surgery is scheduled for later this month in Pittsburgh.
