A 14-year-old boy riding a bicycle was struck and killed in West Deptford, New Jersey Thursday morning.

WEST DEPTFORD -- A 14-year-old boy riding a bicycle was struck and killed in West Deptford, New Jersey Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 7:00 a.m. on the 300 block of Parkville Station Road.

Police say the boy was riding his bicycle westbound when he veered over into the eastbound lane and into the path of a Toyota.

A passerby who was a registered nurse, as well as medics, tried to revive the boy.

The boy was transported to Inspira Hospital in Woodbury where he was pronounced dead.

The striking vehicle did stop at the scene.

Police say cell phone use, alcohol, or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.

According to authorities, the 14-year-old was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
