Camden Catholic High School teacher charged with sexual assault

CHERRY HILL, New Jersey (WPVI) -- A high school teacher has been charged for repeatedly sexually assaulting an underage victim that began when the victim was her 17-year-old student, according to Camden County officials.

Bridget Sipera, 36, of Cherry Hill, was charged with second-degree sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Sipera was also charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child for crimes that occurred in Gloucester Township.

According to court documents, the victim contacted detectives earlier this month, telling police Sipera initiated the relationship in January of 2019.

The victim told police the relationship continued for about 18 months, including about 60 sexual encounters in various locations throughout Cherry Hill, including different homes and a vehicle. Court documents say Sipera admitted to the sexual relationship when contacted by police.

Sipera also served as the girls' lacrosse coach and was listed in a 2016-2017 school handbook as the chair of the McAuley Program, described on the school's website as an educational program for students with mild disabilities.

Detectives said Sipera could face more charges.

Sipera was transported to the Camden County Correctional Facility to await a preliminary hearing on the charges.
