Chemical leak contained at Bucks County water treatment plant

LEVITTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A chemical leak at a water treatment plant in Levittown, Bucks County has been contained.

Chopper 6 HD was over the Lower Bucks County Joint Municipal Authority plant after the leak was discovered, sometime before 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

Officials tell Action News ferric chloride, an agent used to treat drinking water, was found to be leaking from a valve connected to a 9,000 gallon tank.

Hazardous materials crews responded to the scene and determined there had been no adverse affects to air quality in the area or to the water supply.

Police say no one was injured and no evacuations were ordered.

Crews remained on the scene to clean up the chemical.
