ELKTON, Md. (WPVI) -- A fire destroyed a church Sunday morning in Elkton, Maryland, near the Delaware state line.
Firefighters say the flames had already torn through the roof when they arrived.
Despite the severe damage to the building, the cross in the front is still standing.
The congregation and its pastor tell Action New they are devastated.
"They've lost something that can't be replaced and that's hard, but we can come together as fellowship members of God's family and enjoy what we have," said Pastor Charles Rossiter.
The local fire department offered up their banquet hall for Sunday's church service.
So far, there is no word on what started the fire.
