It happened before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fox Street and Abbottsford Avenue.

EAST FALLS (WPVI) -- Action News has confirmed that one person is dead after a crash involving two vehicles in the East Falls section of Philadelphia.

Police say it happened at 7:19 a.m. Tuesday at Fox Street and Abbottsford Avenue, at top of the Fox Street off-ramp from the southbound Roosevelt Boulevard Extension.

Images from Chopper 6 HD showed a van and a sedan which appeared to have collided. The sedan had sustained extensive damage. A large yellow tarpaulin was covering that vehicle.

A downed utility pole was lying across the intersection. Multiple rescue units were on the scene.

Police tell Action News the driver of one of the vehicles did not survive.

Chopper 6 HD was over a serious crash on at the top of the Fox St. off-ramp from the southbound Roosevelt Blvd. Extension.

The victim, a woman who still had not been positively identified as of 11:30 a.m., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial reports indicated at least one other person was injured.

There was no immediate word on the extent of those injuries.

The Fox Street off-ramp from the southbound Roosevelt Boulevard extension was closed as police investigated and crews worked to clear the intersection.

First responders are on the scene of a serious crash in the East Falls section of Philadelphia.
