Police dash cam videos often expose embarrassing, even criminal, behavior. Today a New Jersey judge ruled that, whatever they show, the video cannot be withheld.
The Superior Court ruling comes a month after Governor Chris Christie ordered that new police cars must be equipped with the cameras.
Two plaintiffs sued to get video of their arrests, and were denied by police.
The judge said the video shows nothing more than what the public can plainly see, and is therefore a matter of public record.
