Police: Woman, 62, found beaten to death in Chester County home

BERWYN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police are investigating after a 62-year-old woman was found beaten to death inside her home in Chester County.

The Chester County district attorney's office said a relative found the body of Denise Barger in the Tredyffrin Township home on Friday morning.

Police say she was beaten to death, but they are not saying if they have any suspects.

Barger's husband died in March, and public records show just last week the widow sold her home, but hadn't moved out yet.

Neighbors didn't want to speak on camera about Barger or the homicide, but they tell us they are not worried about their safety.

District Attorney Thomas Hogan said the victim, a recent widow, died of blunt force trauma, and the case is being investigated as a homicide.

Township police and county detectives are investigating, and Hogan is asking anyone with information about the case to call detectives.
