BEVERLY HILL, Calif. -- Residents of a wealthy Southern California neighborhood say they're being put in danger by drag racers.

Drivers have been racing around Beverly Hills in high-end sports cars, sparking an investigation by the U.S. State Department.

But the drivers are claiming diplomatic immunity.

Video shows a Ferrari and a Porsche zooming past frightened neighbors, ignoring stop signs.

"If I got hit, I could have easily just died," 18-year-old skateboarder Nate Dromy told ABC's Good Morning America.

The skid marks from the Ferrari show the vehicle took at least 30 feet to slow down.

Some residents in the area say it's made them so nervous they plan on avoiding that street entirely.

Beverly Hills police say they have been approached by a man who denies speeding but admits the cars are his.

The Ferrari has registered license plates from Qatar, and the man is claiming diplomatic immunity from prosecution.

At the home where the cars were parked, an unidentified man lashed out, chasing a freelance reporter away.

Residents in the neighborhood remain outraged.

"He's racing up and down the street!" said Gail Lowenstein. "That's illegal! If we were doing it, we would be taken away."
