Woman hurt trying to save cats in Drexel Hill fire

DREXEL HILL, Pa. (WPVI) -- Officials say a woman was injured trying to rescue her cats from a house fire in Drexel Hill, Delaware County.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Francis Street.

Firefighters were met with heavy flames coming from the first floor of a two story home.

A man and a woman were able to escape.

The woman, who was trying to save her cats, suffered minor burns.

She was taken to Delaware County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The woman's cats perished in the fire.

Crews were able to bring the blaze under control within a half hour.

No word on the cause of the fire.
