Cases of foodborne illness from E-coli bacteria are on the way down.

The Centers for Disease Control says cases have dropped by a third since 2006.

Officials credit greater food safety awareness and changes in industry practices.

The most common sources for e-coli are leafy vegetables and beef.

Although e-coli cases dropped, infections from salmonella, listeria, and campylobacter have remained the same.
