BELLEFONTE, Del. (WPVI) -- A baby who couldn't wait to be born got the chance to meet one of the people who helped deliver him.

Eric and Micah Smith stopped by the Brandywine Hundred Fire Co. in Delaware Tuesday to show off 5-day-old Elijah.

Micah gave birth to Elijah just outside the fire house early Friday morning because she couldn't get to the hospital in time.

"I did a U-turn, came back to the fire station, got out, knocked on the window - and I'm on the phone with 911," said Eric.

"This was baby number 3, and I had to push," said Micah.

Within minutes, paramedic Christopher Schad and his partner delivered Elijah.

On Tuesday, he said it was a delight to know it all ended well.

"It's nice to see baby, mom, dad," Schad told Action News. "Everybody's here, everybody's safe, everybody's healthy."

It turns out this wasn't the Smiths' first delivery adventure.

Their second child was born in a Maryland Hospital during a power outage caused by Hurricane Irene.
