Heavy rains cause flash flooding in Bethlehem Twp., Pa.

BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Heavy rains caused flash flooding and dangerous conditions in Bethlehem Township Monday night.

The waters quickly swelled - flash flooding, after four inches of rain fell in some parts of the township.

Easton Avenue at Willow Park Road was underwater surrounding the Keystone Tavern.

"This is the first time I've seen it this fast," said Savvas Kiprislis, the pub's owner, told WFMZ-TV. "Within 15 minutes . . . it got flooded really quickly."

Staff and customers worked quickly to put sandbags in front of the doors to prevent the water from inundating the business.

Officials evacuated the Hope House assisted living facility, and a giant truck was brought in to ford the high water.

Cars were submerged and many streets impassable.

Many homeowners in the area reported flooding in their basements.

The wild weather capped another day of high heat and humidity across our area.
