Florida mayor fights back after thieves steal purse

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (WPVI) -- A Florida mayor fought back after thieves snatched her purse.

Miami Shores Mayor Alice Burch says two men rushed up to her on Tuesday, grabbed her purse, and ran off.

Surveillance cameras recorded the chase as Burch ran after them.

November 10, 2016 - A Florida mayor fought back after thieves snatched her purse.

Another camera caught the moment she was pushed to the ground.

Mayor Burch said, "It was dangerous, but I had a sense he was a very young person, and that he wasn't expected to be chased, and if I hadn't chased after, I would not have been able to get the tag of the car."

Detectives took three people into custody.

Police are still looking for a fourth suspect.
