Flames damage hair salon in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Officials say a fire damaged a hair salon in North Philadelphia early Saturday morning.

The blaze broke out around 3:00 a.m. at the corner of North 22nd Street and West Lippincott Street.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames pouring from the Headz Turns hair salon.

They quickly went to work and were able to douse the flames within twenty minutes, but there was already extensive damage in the shop.

One person who lived in an apartment above the salon was not home at the time.

So far, there is no word on what sparked the blaze.
