PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Confirmed flu cases are cropping up in our area.



And the CDC is reporting activity in southeastern states, as well as the California-Utah-Nevada region.



Thur far in Pennsylvania, Montgomery and Butler counties have the highest number of cases, though overall numbers are still small.



All Pa. cases thus far are the H3 strain of A-type flu, a very aggressive strain,



Health experts urge people to get vaccinated before the end of October, to get the best protection.



Health departments around the area have scheduled flu shot clinics.

All residents, ages 3 and older, who have not received a flu shot this season, are invited to attend the clinics, 10 am-2 pm.



The free walk-in flu clinics will be staffed by medical professionals and workers from the County Department of Intercommunity Health, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Delaware County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and Delaware County Community College School of Nursing.



Nonperishable food items will be collected for the County's annual food drive collection.
