It's the latest weapon in the battle for the bulge. SculpSure is a brand new non-surgical procedure that melts away stubborn fat.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It seems there are so many products and services promising to reduce fat in hard-to-lose areas.

Now, there is a new procedure that experts say requires no surgery - and no down time.

It's the latest weapon in the battle for the bulge. SculpSure is a brand new non-surgical procedure that melts away stubborn fat.

"This is something you can do on your lunch break. Takes literally twenty five minutes," said Dr. Hooman Khorasani.

Unlike other non-invasive procedures, this one is the first to ever use lasers and is supposed to be less painful than other alternatives.

First, plates are attached to the patient. Next, a laser penetrates the skin, heating up fat cells and destroying them so they can be eliminated by the body.

"Once you remove most other part of the fat layer and you wait about six weeks or so. You can actually go back in the same area and repeat the procedure," said Dr. Khorasani.

34-year-old Jordana Persad says her tummy had always been her trouble spot and turned to SculpSure for some help in that area.

"I did it to jump start my diet. I wanted to see a result right away," she said.

She says the treatment didn't hurt at all and she's seeing results.

"One to two inches and I fit nicer in my jeans," said Persad.

She's back for a second round and recommending it to friends.

Doctors say it takes about 12 weeks tos ee full results and is ideal for patients who already have a healthy lifestyle but still can't seem to get rid of certain areas of fat.

"In some patients it's actually a really amazing way of removing some localized area of fat that has been really bothering them for a while," said Dr. Khorasani.

And of course it's offered here locally.

In terms of price, it costs about $1,500 dollars a session. And right now, it's only approved for the abdominal area.
