A new study confirms your brain looks decidedly different when you're in love, compared to when you're not.

Researchers used MRI scans on 100 students.

The ones who were in love had increased activity in areas of the brain associated with motivation, emotion and reward.

Dr. Anna Silverstand from the ICAHN School of Medicine at Mount Sinai says, "When you're in love your brain looks happy. There is a tiny little region of the brain that's called the reward center and it's activated when we're doing things that are very pleasurable."

People who were in love also had higher activity in the part of the brain that manages our understanding of other people.
