Heavy rains cause flooding in South Jersey

MANTUA TWP., N.J. -- Heavy storm cells stalled early Friday morning, leaving some low-lying roads across the region looking like rivers and lakes.

Rain pounded parts of our area and before long, the streets were flooded in Mantua Township, New Jersey.

At Bridgeton Pike and Berley Road, tow trucks were called in to haul away cars that were stuck in high waters.

The trucks even had trouble getting through the waters.

Police were forced to close the road in both directions until the water receded.

There was also flooding near the Brooklawn Diner in Brooklawn, New Jersey.

One car became stuck in high waters.

Even after the heavy rains moved out, some flooding lingered in the area.

Conditions have since improved, but motorists should still use caution when traveling the roads.
