Philadelphia police are investigating a violent home invasion in Strawberry Mansion.

STRAWBERRY MANSION (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a violent home invasion in Strawberry Mansion.



It happened in the 2700 block of West Berks Street at 12:00 a.m. Thursday.



The 54-year-old homeowner told police he heard a knock at the door of his residence. When he answered the door, two men stormed in, forcing him back into the living room, where he was struck in the head with a firearm.



The suspects bound the man's hands and legs with orange cargo straps and then covered his head with a jacket.



They took the homeowner's car keys, house keys, wallet containing credit cards, and $200 cash from his pants pockets. The suspects then ransacked the home, taking an additional $600 cash and three flat screen TVs before fleeing the scene in the victim's black 2012 Mercedes Benz 350E.



After the suspects left, the homeowner managed to to untie his legs and then made his way to a neighbor's residence where the straps were cut off of his wrists.



The homeowner sustained a laceration to his head, but refused treatment. He is expected to be okay.



The first suspect is described as a black male, 29-35 years old, 6'2", 180 pounds, thin build, medium complexion, dark plain hooded sweatshirt, armed with a dark 9MM or .40 caliber semi-automatic firearm.



The second suspect is described as a black male, 30-34 years old, 5'10" to 6'0", 180 to 200 pounds, medium complexion, and a bald head.



A search is underway for the suspects.
