VIDEO: Calif. mom says she feels better being overweight than thin
Joni Edelman, a mother of five from California, says she is happier being fat than she was when she was thin.

One mom has a provocotive message to anyone who has struggled with yo-yo dieting: you don't need to be thin to be happy.

Joni Edelman, a mother of five from California, says she is happier being fat than she was when she was thin.

Earlier this week, the registered nurse took to her blog to talk openly about her roller coaster weight over the years.

At her tiniest, Edelman was just 123 pounds and felt confident in a bikini.

But Edelman says she was miserable.

She says she was tracking every bit of food she ate and running 40 miles a week, hoping to keep her perfect figure for her husband.

"I just said to him I feel like this was false advertising. I feel like you married a thin woman and I can't be that thin and I'm sorry," said Edelman.

It turns out Edelman's husband missed his happy wife and told her she was beautiful at any weight.

Edelman says that's all it took for her to start a new journey off the scale and into body acceptance.
