An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect Wednesday for the entire Philadelphia region, bringing sweltering temperatures just as America 250 and July 4th celebrations get underway.

Temperatures in the city are expected to be around 100 degrees from Wednesday until Saturday.

July 3 events schedule change in Haddonfield, NJ

Officials in Haddonfield, New Jersey have made some schedule changes for their Independence Day events on July 3 due to anticipated high temperatures.

The Independence Day Parade will kick off as scheduled at 10 a.m.

However, due to the extreme heat in the forecast, the Block Party and Drone Show scheduled for 5 p.m. are postponed.

Officials will announce a new date soon.

Updates will be shared through Borough communication channels as they become available.

Changes to holiday events amid dangerous heat

The impending triple-digit temperatures are forcing organizers to adjust festivities for America's 250th birthday in Philadelphia.

Several events are changing holiday plans due to the extreme heat this week

The city has canceled the All-American Block Party scheduled for Thursday. Organizers also delayed the start times for the Red, White and Rose Picnic at Independence Mall to 6 p.m.

The Salute to Service, featuring Queen Latifah, will also be pushed back to 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The Independence Illumination Drone Show will also be pushed back to 10 p.m. on Thursday.

Pops on Independence, with headliner Idina Menzel, will now be at 8 p.m. on Friday.

Heat forces Liberty Medal ceremony honoring Pope Leo to be moved indoors

The Liberty Medal ceremony honoring Pope Leo XIV will be moved indoors due to the extreme heat in the forecast.

The ceremony will be held inside the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia on Friday, July 3.

There ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m. and is expected to last until noon.

The pope is expected to address the ceremony in a virtual appearance from the Vatican.

Seating will be limited to invited guests, though the entire program will be streamed live on the National Constitution Center's YouTube page.

Haddon Township cancels 4th of July parade due to heat

Due to the oppressive heat and humidity predicted for this Saturday, July 4th, the Haddon Township parade has been canceled, township officials said.

"This was a difficult choice, but ensuring the health and safety of our participants and spectators alike is our highest priority," a statement reads.

The statement went on to say that Crystal Lake Pool will be open and free to all Haddon Twp. residents, their extended family, friends and guests.

The 'Happy Birthday America Celebration' will still take place with fireworks at the HTHS stadium. Gates open at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 3rd.
