NEW YORK CITY (WPVI) -- The days of waiting in line to buy tickets for those big lottery jackpots could be numbered.
A new mobile app called Jackpocket launched in New York Monday.
It enables gamblers to buy a ticket with a swipe and a tap on a smartphone.
When you place an order with Jackpocket, someone is sent to buy a ticket.
You get a virtual copy while the original is kept safe and sound.
"All of the physical tickets that are bought when there's a jackpot going off are locked up in a safe at an undisclosed location," said Jackpocket CEO Pete Sullivan.
If you hit it big, Jackpocket sends you the winning ticket.
The service reportedly sold $15,000 in tickets on its first day.
Jackpocket launched just in time for Wednesday night's $301 million Powerball drawing.
Winning Powerball numbers can be seen every Wednesday and Saturday night on Action News at 11.
