Police tell Action News multiple people were taken into custody. It's unclear if those arrested included the gunman.

"We are saddened and angered by the unfortunate, isolated incident that happened in our shopping center today," said a spokesperson for the mall in a statement to Action News. "We are grateful for their swift action to contain the situation. Our highest priority right now is the well being of our guests and tenants."

Hana Ali, who owns Tabarek International Food, said she heard the gunshots outside her store inside the mall. One of the bullets struck her store and she said another bullet shattered the glass of the Sephora store next door.

"It was really scary, and then we went to the back, we were hiding," she recalled.

Ali says people were trying to get the gunman to put down the weapon.

"He was holding a gun and put it in between his legs. And three of them, I don't know if they are friends or whatever, they were fighting him trying to get him not to shoot," Ali said. "And then he was so powerful they couldn't get him, so they walked away from him. He took the gun and shot one of them."

Shoppers said they were shocked to learn about the shooting.

"Thought the mall was basically a safe place to be," said Daniel Tema of Elizabethtown. "Now I'll probably be watching and looking over my shoulder just to make sure nothing bad is going on."

The mall will remain closed until Monday.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police at 717-735-3301.
