Pickup truck slams into rear of tractor trailer on NJTP

WOOLWICH TWP, N.J. (WPVI) -- New Jersey State Police are investigating a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Gloucester County.

The accident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. Thursday on the northbound New Jersey Turnpike at mile marker 11.9 in Woolwich Township.

Rescue crews worked feverishly to free the driver of the pickup who became trapped inside the vehicle.

A crane was brought in to help lift the trailer off the pickup. The pickup was then moved out from underneath and the driver was freed.

There is no word yet on the severity of the driver's injuries.

It is unclear what led to the crash.
