NEW YORK -- Designers unveiled this year's New Year's Eve ball Saturday in Times Square.
It's the second in Waterford's "Greatest Gifts" series, depicting universally treasured values within us all.
288 crystal triangles utilizing diamond cuts on either side of a crystal pillar represent this year's theme: the gift of fortitude.
The ball, which is 12 feet in diameter, will be raised 470 feet in the air, and then lowered on Wednesday night.
It is said to be the largest crystal ball in the world.
