Victim identified in deadly Hockessin crash

One person was killed in a crash in Hockessin.

HOCKESSIN, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware State Police have identified the man killed early Sunday morning in a crash in Hockessin.

Juan Manuel Martinez-Castaneda, 19, from Kennett Square, Pa., died in the crash on Route 41 (Newport Gap Pike) north of Graves Road.

It happened at 2:20 a.m. Sunday.

Police say Martinez-Castaneda lost control of the SUV he was driving, sideswiped a second car and struck a tree.

Firefighters worked for over 30 minutes to free him from the wreckage.

Martinez-Castaneda he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people in the second vehicle were taken to Christiana Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
