WEST PHILADELPHIA -- More than a dozen students were arrested following a wild fight inside a West Philadelphia school.
Police swarmed Parkway West High at 48th and Fairmount Wednesday morning.
One by one, the students were escorted out of Parkway West High School in handcuffs, put in a police van, and taken into custody.
In all, 14 students face disorderly conduct charges after a bunch of girls brawled inside the school auditorium.
"It started in October. Instead of the principal separating the kids, she kept them in the same classroom. It's been brewing and brewing," parent Paula Glover said.
Glover's daughter and Tamika Benson's sister were among those taken away in cuffs.
She says the escalating tensions are over petty stuff, but boiled over this week.
"Monday, it just erupted. They started fighting down the street. My daughter was jumped by six kids who don't even go to this school," Glover said.
"(My sister) was jumped by grown women who came to fight her on Monday and she was jumped and had to be taken to Children's Hospital. Her elbow was fractured," Benson said.
All of the students face summary offenses.
Many parents blame Parkway West's administration for not defusing the situation.
"I've been telling my child, I told her to walk the other way," Glover said.
Action News called the school district to get a comment. A spokesperson was looking into it, but so far we haven't heard back.
