New guidelines for baby sun safety: Brian Taff reports during Action News at 4:30pm on May 25, 2018. (WPVI)

A new recommendation urges parents to do more to protect infants from the sun, especially if they have fair skin.

It says parents of infants as young as 6 months should be shown how to be sun safe.

That includes UV protectant clothing and sunscreens that provide a physical barrier, like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.

And babies under 6 months shouldn't go into direct sun at all.
