PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has sold its nursing homes in order to balance the books.
The sale involves six nursing homes and one assisted living facility operated by Catholic Health Care Services, including:
Immaculate Mary Home, Philadelphia
Villa Saint Martha, Downingtown
Saint Francis Country House, Darby
Saint John Neumann Home, Philadelphia
Saint Martha Manor, Downingtown
Saint Mary Manor, Lansdale
Saint Monica Manor, Philadelphia
Archbishop Chaput said the difficult decision was made after a review of property investments and operations.
Center Management Group out of New York bought the homes for $145 million.
Chaput says the company will continue to operate the facilities in a Catholic, faith based manner.
