15 injured after SUV hits school bus in Gloucester Twp., N.J.

Friday morning's ride to school ended with a trip to the hospital for several children in Camden County.

GLOUCESTER TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A total of 15 people were injured after an SUV crashed into the rear of a school bus on Friday morning in Gloucester Township, Camden County.



It happened at 7:45 a.m. Friday at Sicklerville and Village Green roads.



Police say the bus, which was taking children to the Ann Mullen Middle School, was stopping with its yellow lights flashing when it was hit.



There were 30 children inside the bus at the time. Of those, 12 were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.



A 25-year-old man, along with a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old, were inside the SUV and were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.



First responders are on the scene of a crash involving a school bus in Gloucester Township.


Multiple rescue units converged on the scene.



The school notified parents through its automated phone messaging system and with a post on Facebook.



People living nearby say they heard the collision.



"I look, and you see the car," said Len Messina. "It looked pretty serious."



"People drive fast," said Bill Newmiller. "The bus stops there every day."



The crash remains under investigation.
