Delaware activist James Gilliam dies at 95

James Gilliam, decorated soldier, activist and icon in Delaware, has died.

He was 95 years old.

James Gilliam served in a legendary African-American Buffalo Soldier Infantry in World War II.

Decades after his service, Gilliam was awarded the bronze star and four other medals in 2014.

Gilliam founded the Metropolitan Urban League in 1999.

Vice President Joe Biden released a statement Friday calling Gilliam a friend and a mentor.
