Fire captain accused of attacking trick-or-treaters

A Massachusetts fire captain accused of attacking three trick-or-treaters has been suspended without pay.

Carl Holmberg pleaded not guilty to charges, including assault and battery on a child.

Police say the 44-year-old yelled at an 11-year-old and two 14-year-old boys for cutting through people's yards and smacked them with a golf club on Halloween.

None of the kids was seriously hurt.

Holmberg claimed he was trying to stop the boys from causing a disturbance and only hit them when he feared for his safety.
