Residents displaced in 2 alarm house fire in Chester

CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- More than a dozen people were displaced after a two alarm house fire in Chester, Delaware County.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the unit block of East 23rd Street.

Arriving crews reported heavy fire and thick smoke billowing from the home.

The flames also spread to an adjoining residence.

Within a half hour, a second alarm was struck.

Crews battled the flames for an hour before bringing things under control.

The Red Cross is assisting 18 people displaced by the blaze.

No word yet on a cause.
