Police are investigating a shooting in West Philadelphia that left a man in critical condition.

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are investigating a shooting in West Philadelphia that left a man in critical condition.

The shooting occurred around 12:40 a.m. Sunday on the 4900 block of Hoopes Street.

Police say a 47-year-old man was shot twice in the chest and once in the head.

He was taken by police to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition.

Responding officers located a scene at a home on the block.

Officers knocked and announced their presence and were permitted into the home.

The officers were directed to the second floor where they located a 31-year-old male hiding underneath the bed in the master bedroom.

The male was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
