Crash blocks lanes on Pennsylvania Turnpike, causes major delays

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An accident caused major traffic delays on Pennsylvania Turnpike near the Mid-County Toll Plaza Saturday afternoon.

Action News is told a vehicle rolled over from the westbound lanes to the eastbound lanes of the Turnpike (I-276).

A medical helicopter was called to the scene.

At one point, all lanes in both directions were shut down.

At this time, the left lanes of both sides of I-276 remain closed.

Officials say maintenance crews will need to repair and replace the center concrete barrier which will keep the left lanes closed until complete.

There is no word on injuries or how many vehicles were involved in the crash.
