Motorcyclist killed in crash on Girard Avenue

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A motorcyclist is dead after an overnight crash in the Mantua section of Philadelphia.

It happened around 12:20 a.m. Saturday at 38th and Girard.

According to police, the 25-year-old motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Girard approaching the entrance to I-76 when, for an unknown reason, he lost control.

The motorcyclist slid on the roadway and hit the bumper of a GMC with his body.

The bike also slid but never hit the GMC, police say.

The name of the person killed has not been released.

The person inside the GMC was not hurt.
