PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- There are some big changes coming to Philadelphia's License and Inspections agency.
On Thursday, Mayor Michael Nutter unveiled the findings from the task force created to examine the highly-criticized agency.
There are 37 recommendations in the report, ranging from organizational and safety procedures to technology and staffing.
Of those staffing changes is a new position called the Chief Safety Officer, who will oversee safety standards and regulations.
This all comes after the deadly 2013 Salvation Army building collapse at 22nd and Market streets that put L&I under a microscope.
"The fact of the matter is a terrible tragedy happened. I'm certainly not going to wait for a grand jury report to take action on the things that we know we can take action on," Nutter said.
Another recommendation includes splitting L&I's responsibilities into two separate agencies. That would require a change to the city charter.
Mayor Nutter has not made a decision on that change.
