PennDOT prepares roadways for snowy morning commute

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- They know the routine all too well at PennDOT.

"We pre-treated all area highways, anticipating that this storm would start snowing sometime overnight into Tuesday morning," said Brad Rudloph, of PennDOT.

Rudloph said they have been monitoring the forecast and the 'worst case scenarios' for this snow event and that there are some concerns this time around because of the deep-freeze like temperatures across the five-county Philadelphia region.

"The timing of the morning commute could be tricky," he said. "People can expect a coating, and temperatures are really cold, so we can expect that snow to probably stick this time around."

Rudloph said the snow won't be slushy like last time, and given that this storm is during the week and not on the weekend there will be a lot more traffic on the roadways.

"It could be a slow ride for the commute, people should take heed and plan ahead," said Rudolph. "Watch your speeds and allow extra time as always."
