An Elk Township officer was injured after police say his cruiser was struck by a drunk driver in Gloucester County, New Jersey.

ELK TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- An Elk Township officer was injured after police say his cruiser was struck by a drunk driver in Gloucester County, New Jersey.

Police say Special Officer Jacob Custis was on his way to a call around 1 a.m. Friday.

Custis was making a U-turn on Buck Road when police say 38-year-old William Derr of Mickleton, New Jersey slammed his pickup truck into the patrol car.

Both vehicles were damaged.

Officer Custis was treated at Cooper University Hospital and released.

Mickelton has been charged with drunk driving.
